6 weeks old
Aiden will be 6 weeks old this week! I know I have been way behind on updating this blog. We had a horrible computer virus a few weeks ago and it took a while to get it back up and running. Here are some pics of our sweetie pie. He is a true delight- even at 3 in the morning when he is ready to get up for the day!

Welcome to the World
Aiden was born on Tuesday, May 3rd at 1:41 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds/3 ounces and is 18 1/2 inches long. He is the best baby! We couldn't be happier. When we look at him we are just amazed that God gave us such a precious gift. ♥

35 Weeks Down, 5 To Go!!
Here's our little bug from today's check up. He is just precious! He was moving around and showing off his cute little face. He is definitely head down, ready to go. My blood pressure was back up again today, so they are really keeping an eye on it and testing me weekly for preeclamsia. But, he is doing great- great heart rate, practicing breathing, etc. It won't be long now! ♥

Baby Showers bring May Flowers
We had a busy weekend March 26th with 2 baby showers back-to-back. Our first one was in Kingsport at Eric's home church. The ladies are just precious and we had a wonderful turn out. I could not believe how much stuff they got for our little man! We literally filled mom's Trailblazer with the goodies. He got his pack and play, stroller/carseat, activity saucer, Diaper Genie, crib bedding, TONS of adorable clothes, handmade quilts and hats, etc., etc. It was just amazing.
After that baby shower, we rushed to get back to Jefferson County for our other "all ladies" shower. This was hosted by Stephanie, Jennifer, Misty, and Twila. I babysat for Twila when I was just a teen and even changed her boys' diapers. One of those boys is a freshman in college and the other is a senior in high school! I was overwhelmed with how many little touches these ladies added to the shower. They handmade decorations, candy for the guests, games, etc. It was so precious to look around and see all the trouble they went to to make it truly special for me and Aiden. We had so much fun sitting around laughing and reminiscing about our fun, crazy times together. It was so good to see the faces of my dear friends Jessica, Alisha, and Nicole. What a wonderful day!!

Childbirth Class
Yesterday Eric and I attended an all day childbirth class at the hospital. Sadly, out of the dozen couples who were there, we were a) the oldest and b) actually married. Oh and c) didn't snicker every time the word "penis" or "breast" was mentioned. It made me sad to think these young people would be having babies in the next few weeks and actually have to be responsible for their little lives. While the nurse was explaining important things like epidurals and newborn care, these teens were sitting in the back checking the score of the Kentucky basketball game. I wanted to scream! Actually, I wanted to make them pass some test before they would be allowed to take their babies home! I can only imagine what the nurse was thinking.
In other news, things have calmed down a bit for us since last week. Last week was quite stressful with the doctor looking at my blood pressure readings and crazy number of Braxton-Hicks and telling me that it was "highly unlikely" we would be waiting until May 14th for our little man to make his big arrival. If that doesn't make your blood pressure go up, I don't know what would!! The doctor gave me 2 shots of steroids to boost Aiden's lung development just in case he is in fact born preterm. It seems my body has calmed down this week and hopefully the scare is over for now. I remind myself that the good Lord knows Aiden's exact arrival date and time and that He already has all of this scary stuff figured out for us. Aiden has always been in God's hands and I am just lucky enough to be included in His plans. So for now, my little roommate is just fattening up and trying to find more space to stretch out. ♥

Kidney Stones and a Button Nose
On top of the pulled ligament that I got on Saturday night, we found out today that I also have several kidney stones that added to the pain. Oh joy! On the upside, the nurse felt really bad for me and took a quick 4D image of our sweet baby boy's face. He was flipping and tumbling around so much, it made one of his arms looks so funny. Ha! But I can still see those sweet little lips and his adorable button nose. ♥ I can't wait to hold him. Only 3 months from today for our due date!!

Bed rest
So- I've really done it this time. I pulled a round ligament in my lower abdomen. No, I was not running a 5K or even lifting something heavy. I was simply getting out of bed at 3 in the morning for my hundredth trip to the bathroom and apparently got up wrong. I was scared to death of course thinking I hurt Aiden. The nurse on call told me to rest and use a heat pad until it gets better. :( I just pray that's sooner than later. This momma has stuff to do!! Thank the Lord for Eric and his caring nature. He has been so wonderful running around the house for me and making me stay still on the couch. Love his heart. He is going to be a wonderful Daddy.

Complete and Total Exhaustion!
It has been a rough 2 weeks on this momma's body! The lady that owns our house moved all of her stuff out last week, so I went back to TN on Thursday to start packing us up. When I got to my house Thursday afternoon with my grandparents, we noticed one whole corner of our basement was flooded. As luck would have it, it was the exact corner where all of my empty boxes were!! We started bailing out the water like 3 crazy people in a sinking boat! Come to find out, we had a pipe right outside the wall that wasn't sealed correctly and it gave way and started pouring close to 60,000 gallons of water into our foundation! This river of water filled up the basement blocks then started pouring into the basement through a pencil sized hole. It was a disaster. Not at all what I expected to find when we walked downstairs!
Thank God for my Daddy and L.W. They put on multiple layers of clothes and got outside in 19* weather to dig up the pipe and fix it. Daddy looked like he was head first down in a well to rescue baby Jessica. Ha! It was absolutely horrible. And wouldn't it figure that Eric was in Houston for a business conference. He about died as I told him the details over the phone. After several hours and attempts to fix the pipe, it finally held and we could breathe a sigh of relief.
The packing and moving continued as usual and Eric joined us late Saturday night to complete everything. We drove back to KY on Monday and the movers arrived with everything Tuesday. Eric's parents also came back to KY with us to help and bring things the movers couldn't take such as cleaners and, of course, ammo. Ha! Since then, we've been knee deep in boxes and bubble wrap. I'm slowly getting things put away. I worked on Aiden's room this morning and really enjoyed displaying toys we had when we were little. On Aiden's changing dresser is Eric's G.I. Joe's right beside my Pooh Bears. Ha. Needless to say, his room will be so special and a definite blend of his Daddy and me.

Busy Bees
Eric and I have been super busy with our house situation. Our wonderful landlord has offered to move out all of her belongings and let us move our stuff up here from Tennessee. As if that wasn't enough, she also said she would put in a fence for us to get Shelby and Dozer up here. We are thrilled! Finally we will be able to call this place home and have our little family all together. I can't wait to get back in MY bed too! God is just laughing at me for freaking out over everything. I just needed to rest in His plans. Just this past week I was the one crying about not having a room for Aiden. It's funny how life turns out okay so quickly.
